A bit more of Berto

I' am mad about Martinez at the moment, he's been my main source of inspiration in this "period" of painting in watercolour.

It's inspired me to try and push what I've done already - being single portraits of people both well and lesser known in modern culture. In order to challenge myself further and adapt in this medium, I intend to experiment with montaging and collaging several images that circulate one theme/film or person.

So now I' am going to attempt my own version of a 2001: A Space Odyysey poster, comprised of certain elements seen in the film. It'll also be a welcome challenge to work with type too.

The result will hopefully be here shortly, keep your eyes peeled!

400 - 5 =

Seeing as it's been pretty much a year this blog's been straggling through posts, I thought that on this 395th post it might be wise to notify you (are you there?) of a new blog I've created. It's another Tumblr blog (which tends to be more efficient for locating inspiration), and it's called Brother Ares, being the sibling to my Little Boy Hercules.

For future reference, this is the link to my new "inspiration blog": http://brotherares.tumblr.com/

Berto Martinez

I love everything about this work, such an awesome
source of inspiration for what I've been attempting lately.

His work is so daunty and composed, I' am in love.

Little Boy Hercules (Colour)

Little Boy Hercules

So I got bored and sketched this quickly. Quite happy, might add a little colour to bring things out, some parts are a little unclear.

Little Boy Hercules

I've started a new Tumblr blog soully dedicated to work that I actually produce, as opposed to that which normally features on this blog. This enables me to order all my summer work in a vaguely chronolical order, which is a lot nicer for showing people "what I've been up to lately".

There will still be all manor of findings and discoveries dotted along this blog, along with my own work throughout. It'll just be "Little Boy Hercules" that will be dedicated to my work only.

I think that's pretty set in stone. If you want to take a look at Hercules, you can click this link HERE, or find the same link in various secret locations across the last two paragraphs.
